Sustainability can be achieved in different types of ways. Sometimes, using new technologies and a clear, prescribed rubric (like LEED) is the best way to achieve sustainability goals. Other times, implementing elemental and old-world technologies (learning from Indigenous cultures and techniques) is most effective. In all cases, involving the community and getting them engaged in the project positively affects both the people and the environment.
